UP Scholarship 2026-27: renewal closes 15 Oct, fresh 31 Oct, and when the money actually lands

If you're in college, ITI or a diploma course in Uttar Pradesh, the Dashmottar scholarship window is closing. Here are the deadlines, the hard-copy step people miss, and the payment windows on the published schedule.

TL;DRThe short version

  • Renewal (2nd year onwards): apply online and hand the hard copy to your institution by Thu 15 Oct 2026.
  • Fresh (first-time applicants): apply online by Sat 31 Oct, then submit the printout to your college by Wed 4 Nov.
  • Payment is due by DBT, 1–10 Dec for renewals and 21–31 Dec for fresh applicants, but only after verification and if your bank account is Aadhaar–NPCI mapped.
  • Apply or renew on the official portal: scholarship.up.gov.inThe portal was slow to load when we checked on 10 Oct, so don't leave it to the last day.

Short answer: if you're renewing, you have until Thursday 15 October. If this is your first time applying, the online form closes on Saturday 31 October, and the printout has to reach your college by Wednesday 4 November. Both deadlines apply to the Dashmottar (post-matric, beyond Intermediate) category, which covers graduation, postgraduation, diploma, ITI and similar courses. The applications opened on 15 September.

If you're in Classes 9 to 12, the regular window has already closed. Fresh applications ended on 21 September and renewals on 25 August, The Economic Times reports.

The deadlines, step by step

Step Renewal Fresh
Online application 15 Sep – 15 Oct 15 Sep – 31 Oct
Hard copy to your institution by 15 Oct by 4 Nov
Institution verifies and forwards by 25 Oct by 10 Nov
University / affiliating body verification by 5 Nov by 25 Nov
Scrutiny by NIC 6 – 20 Nov 26 Nov – 5 Dec
Money transferred (DBT) 1 – 10 Dec 21 – 31 Dec
Second round, if your data was flagged and corrected 16 – 25 Jan 2027 27 – 31 Jan 2027

The application deadlines are confirmed by The Economic Times, NDTV and Jagran Josh. Jagran Josh also lists the 10 November forwarding date and the 21–31 December payment window for fresh applicants. The rest of the timeline comes from the published schedule as reproduced by Buddy4Study, because the official portal would not load when we checked. Treat those later dates as the planned schedule: a delay at any verification stage pushes your payment back.

How to apply or renew

  1. Go to scholarship.up.gov.in and choose your category (General, OBC, SC, ST or Minority) and course level.
  2. Choose Fresh Registration, or Renewal Login if you got the scholarship last year.
  3. Fill in your academic details, income details and Aadhaar number, then complete the OTP verification.
  4. Submit, then download and print the final form.
  5. Hand the hard copy to your college. Jagran Josh advises doing this within three days of submitting. This is the step many students miss, and your college cannot forward a form it hasn't received.

Keep these ready: an Aadhaar card linked to your mobile number, a current income certificate, a caste certificate (if applicable), a domicile certificate, last year's marksheet, your fee receipt and your bank passbook.

Why the money gets stuck

The amount is sent by Direct Benefit Transfer only to bank accounts that are linked to Aadhaar and mapped on the NPCI server. If your account isn't mapped, the payment can fail even after your form is approved. Ask your bank to check your Aadhaar–NPCI mapping before you apply.

An "approved" status doesn't mean the money has left yet. Forms go through your institution, your university, NIC scrutiny and a district committee before funds are released. Keep checking the Status section on the portal using your registration number and date of birth.

What the Kannauj protest is about

On Thursday 8 October, students at the Government Engineering College in Tirwa, Kannauj, protested for about three hours because most of them hadn't received their 2026-27 scholarship, Hindustan and Dainik Bhaskar report. According to Hindustan, the students had protested on 20 August as well and had been given an assurance of payment by 2 October. Social welfare officials told the students that the remaining eligible students would be paid soon. The students have warned they'll protest again if payments are delayed further.

How much is it?

It depends on your course and on whether you live in a hostel. For eligible undergraduate students, NDTV reports monthly rates of ₹230 to ₹550 for day scholars and ₹380 to ₹1,200 for hostellers, depending on the course group.

Dates are as published for the 2026-27 session and can change. Always check the official portal before a deadline. Ignore links on WhatsApp or Telegram that ask for your Aadhaar or bank details.
