As of 24 October 2026, the मुख्यमंत्री माझी लाडकी बहीण योजना (Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana) September installment of ₹1,500 has not reached beneficiaries. The Maharashtra government has not announced a date. You can check your application status and complete e-KYC on the official portal, ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in, or in the Nari Shakti Doot app. If you have a complaint, call 181.
This guide separates what's confirmed from what's speculation. It covers the expected installment date, the ₹3,000 Diwali talk, e-KYC step by step, and why some women's payments stopped or are now facing recovery.
मुख्यमंत्री माझी लाडकी बहीण योजना: when will the September installment (सप्टेंबर हप्ता) come?
There is no official date yet. On 12 October, reports said the government had not issued a Government Resolution (GR) for the September installment. DBT transfers can't start without that GR. By 21 October, after Dussehra, the money was still unpaid.
Two possibilities are being reported, and neither is confirmed:
- September's ₹1,500 is paid on its own after 25 October (Dainik Ekmat).
- September and October are paid together as ₹3,000 around Diwali. This is a media and aggregator estimate (MarathiGold), not a government announcement.
How to know for sure: keep an eye on the GR portal, gr.maharashtra.gov.in, and the Women & Child Development department site. Once a GR for the installment appears there, money usually starts reaching accounts in batches over several days, not to everyone on the same day. The August installment, for example, was paid between roughly 27 September and 2 October (Prahaar).
October 2026 timeline: what changed
| Date (2026) | What happened |
|---|---|
| ~27 Sep to 2 Oct | The delayed August installment reached most beneficiaries. |
| 12 Oct | No GR yet for the September installment. A viral "₹2,100 from September, GR dated 5 October" message was reported as false. |
| 15 Oct | Women in Akole taluka (Ahilyanagar district) protested that e-KYC errors had stopped their payments. With the Janwadi Mahila Sanghatana, they warned they would march to the CM's "Varsha" residence on 26 October. |
| 19 Oct | Because of a funding shortage, WCD cut seven other schemes, including grants to mahila mandals, a solar kit scheme for anganwadis and the Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree budget head. The department said Ladki Bahin is unaffected. |
| 21 Oct | September installment still unpaid after Dussehra, with no official date. |
| 22 Oct | WCD sent lists of suspected ineligible beneficiaries to district collectors for re-verification and possible recovery. |
How to check Ladki Bahin status and payment
1. On the official portal
- Open ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in in a browser. Type the address yourself rather than tapping a link someone forwarded you.
- Log in to the applicant section with the mobile number you used to apply.
- Open your submitted application to see its status (approved, pending or rejected) and any remarks.
- Look for the e-KYC link on the homepage if your status shows e-KYC as pending.
2. On the Nari Shakti Doot app
Nari Shakti Doot is the official app for checking application status. Download it only from the Google Play Store, log in with your registered mobile number, and open the application you submitted earlier to see its current status.
3. In your bank account
- The money goes only to an Aadhaar-seeded bank account in your own name. Check your passbook, SMS alerts or net banking for a DBT credit of ₹1,500.
- If other women in your area have been paid and you haven't, check that your Aadhaar is still linked to the right account. The "Bank Seeding Status" option on myAadhaar (UIDAI) shows which bank your Aadhaar is seeded to.
Other DBT schemes work the same way. Our PM Kisan 24th installment guide walks through similar bank-seeding checks.
How to do Ladki Bahin e-KYC (step by step)
e-KYC became mandatory in September 2025 (Scroll). The first deadline was extended to 18 November 2025 (The Hitavada). It has to be repeated every year. One aggregator says the 2026 re-verification window closed on 15 July 2026, but as of 24 October 2026 no official source had confirmed that.
- Go to ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in and click the e-KYC link on the homepage.
- Enter your Aadhaar number and the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile.
- Enter your husband's Aadhaar (if married) or your father's Aadhaar (if unmarried), then the OTP sent to his mobile. This is how the system checks the family's income-tax and government-job status.
- Read and accept the declaration, then submit. Take a screenshot of the confirmation.
Tip: the OTP goes to the mobile number linked to that Aadhaar. If the number is wrong or no longer in use, update it at an Aadhaar centre first, or the e-KYC will fail. You can also get help at your local anganwadi centre.
Why women were removed from the Ladki Bahin list
The number of beneficiaries was about 2.41–2.46 crore in 2024–25, before verification. In October 2026 it is about 1.66 crore, according to MarathiGold. That figure is unofficial, and another aggregator puts it at about 1.5 crore. In August 2025, minister Aditi Tatkare said income-tax data had flagged about 26 lakh recipients as ineligible, and their payments were suspended (Deccan Herald).
Your name may have been dropped or your payment paused if:
- someone in your family is a government employee or pensioner,
- someone in your family pays income tax, or family income is above ₹2.5 lakh a year,
- the family owns a four-wheeler (tractors are exempt),
- you already get ₹1,500 or more a month from another government scheme,
- you are under 21 or over 65, or not a Maharashtra resident,
- your e-KYC is pending or failed, or your Aadhaar isn't seeded to your bank account,
- the application was filed by or for a man. Solapur alone found 78 men on the rolls.
Will you have to pay the money back?
Possibly, but only if you were ineligible. On 22 October 2026, the WCD department sent lists of suspected ineligible beneficiaries, mainly government-employee families and men, to district collectors for recovery after re-verification (Saam TV; Pune Prime News).
In Solapur, 1,907 beneficiaries had a government employee in the family, and 78 men were on the list. Their payments are paused, and anganwadi workers will verify them in person. If you're eligible and your name was flagged by mistake, keep your income certificate, ration card and family Aadhaar details ready for that visit.
Myth vs fact: ₹2,100 and "scheme closing"
- Myth: ₹2,100 a month starts from September, under a GR dated 5 October. Fact: this was reported as false (Mahaenews). The benefit is still ₹1,500.
- Myth: Ladki Bahin is being shut down. Fact: WCD cut seven other schemes on 19 October and said Ladki Bahin is unaffected (Sarkarnama).
- Myth: share your OTP or pay a fee to "restart" your payment. Fact: e-KYC is free on the official portal. Never share an OTP with a caller. If you've been cheated, see our guide to reporting cyber fraud on 1930.
Payment stopped even though e-KYC is done? What to do
- Check your status on the portal or the Nari Shakti Doot app for remarks such as "rejected" or "e-KYC failed".
- Confirm that your Aadhaar is seeded to an active bank account in your own name.
- Call the 181 helpline (toll-free; reported hours Mon–Sat, 8 AM–8 PM) and note down the complaint number.
- Visit your anganwadi centre or tehsil office with your Aadhaar, bank passbook and e-KYC screenshot.
Many women in Akole are in the same position. They have warned they will march to the CM's residence on 26 October 2026 if payments aren't restored (eSakal). For other Maharashtra schemes for women, see our Mahila Shetkari certificate guide and the karjmafi list name check. More scheme updates are on the KyunTrend homepage.
We will update this post when a GR for the September or October installment is published.
