Kolkata Police constable result 2026 out: how to check, who is shortlisted, and the PMT and PET standards from 28 October
The West Bengal Police Recruitment Board has released the preliminary written test result for Constables and Lady Constables in Kolkata Police (2024 recruitment). Shortlisted candidates face the physical tests from 28 October, with admit cards from 15 October. Here's how to check, the numbers so far, the exact height, chest and running standards, and a free self-check.

Short answer: the Kolkata Police constable result for the 2024 recruitment drive is out. The West Bengal Police Recruitment Board (WBPRB) has published the result of the preliminary written test for Constables and Lady Constables, along with separate lists of men and women shortlisted for the physical tests. The Times of India says the result was notified on 12 October; Jagran Josh and Careers360 say it was released on 13 October. The physical measurement test (PMT) and physical efficiency test (PET) start on 28 October 2026.
How to check the Kolkata Police constable result
- Open WBPRB's Recruitment to the posts of Constables/Lady Constables in Kolkata Police – 2024 page on prb.wb.gov.in. The same result is linked from the West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police websites, according to Jagran Josh.
- Use the search box: enter your Application Sl. No. and date of birth, and select your permanent district or state.
- Or open the PDF list of shortlisted male candidates or shortlisted female candidates for PMT & PET and search it for your application number (Ctrl + F).
- Save a copy. If you're on the list, you move to the physical tests.
WBPRB's site was slow when we tried it: it timed out from our server at about 5:10 PM IST on 13 October. If it doesn't load, try again later rather than using a copy from an unofficial site.
Jagran Josh's count of the two lists: 43,766 men and 4,177 women shortlisted. According to the revised vacancy notice of 18 September 2025, as reported by IndiaExamAlert, there are 3,624 Constable and 345 Lady Constable posts, 3,969 in total. We could not open WBPRB's own copy of that revision, so treat the vacancy figure as reported. Category-wise cut-offs have not been published as of this writing; Jagran Josh says they will be released "shortly".
PMT and PET: dates and admit card
- Admit card: from 15 October 2026, on wbprb.applythrunet.co.in, with your login details (TOI, Jagran Josh). When we checked at about 5:10 PM IST on 13 October, the portal listed PMT & PET admit cards for other WBPRB recruitments but not yet this one.
- Tests: from 28 October 2026, at venues WBPRB will announce.
- Carry a printed admit card. Your appearance should closely match the photo you uploaded with your application, or the board can turn you away (WBPRB notice).
The PMT and PET standards
These are copied from WBPRB's "Information to Applicants" for this recruitment. Both tests are qualifying: they don't add marks, but failing either ends your run.

Height and weight are taken on electronic machines and chest with a tape. The run is timed by RFID, and only one chance is allowed. If you're claiming the Gorkha, Garhwali, Rajbanshi or ST relaxation through a change of category, the notice says that request is entertained only on the PMT/PET day.

Myth Your prelims score decides your final rank.
Fact No. WBPRB's notice says prelims marks are not counted for the final merit list. The merit list comes from the final written exam (85 marks) and the interview (15 marks).

Myth Someone can 'manage' your PMT or PET for a fee.
Fact WBPRB has warned that any canvassing during PMT and PET will cancel your candidature and that selection is purely on merit (TOI).

Fact The notice says only one chance is given in the PET, and timing is recorded with RFID.
What comes after the PET
Candidates who clear PMT and PET sit a final written exam of 85 one-mark questions in an hour (general awareness 25, English 10, elementary maths 25, reasoning 25), with a quarter-mark penalty for each wrong answer. A limited number then face an interview worth 15 marks, which also tests your spoken Bengali. The merit list is drawn from these two scores only, followed by character verification and a medical exam (WBPRB notice). Dates for the final written exam haven't been announced.
