Short answer: the Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme 2026 is LIC's scholarship for students from lower-income families, and you have until 15 October 2026 to apply. The Life Insurance Corporation of India's Golden Jubilee Foundation page says the last date was "extended up to 15th October 2026"; the scheme document itself still prints the original 30 September date. Applications are online only and free.
Who can apply for the Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme 2026
There are two scholarships, and you need to meet all three conditions for yours (scheme document, para 3):
General Scholarship (after Class 12 or diploma)
- Passed Class 12 or equivalent with at least 60% or equivalent CGPA in 2023-24, 2024-25 or 2025-26.
- Admitted in 2026-27 to the first year of medicine (MBBS, BAMS, BHMS, BDS), engineering (BE, BTech, BArch), graduation in any subject, an integrated course, a diploma, a vocational course or an ITI course at a government-recognised institution.
- Parents' or guardian's income from all sources not more than ₹4,50,000 a year.
Special Scholarship (after Class 10)
- Passed Class 10 or equivalent with at least 60% in 2023-24, 2024-25 or 2025-26.
- Admitted in 2026-27 to the first year of Intermediate/10+2, a vocational or diploma course, or ITI.
- The same ₹4,50,000 income limit.
Diploma holders who join engineering in the first year, or through lateral entry into the second year, also qualify if they passed the diploma with 60% in one of those three years. Post-graduation, self-study courses such as CA, CS and CMA, and correspondence, part-time, evening and open-university courses are not covered.
How much the scholarship pays
| Scholarship | Per year | Paid as |
|---|---|---|
| General, medicine (MBBS, BAMS, BHMS, BDS) | ₹50,000 | 2 × ₹25,000 |
| General, engineering (BE, BTech, BArch) | ₹40,000 | 2 × ₹20,000 |
| General, graduation / integrated / diploma / vocational / ITI | ₹20,000 | 2 × ₹10,000 |
| Special, after Class 10 | ₹15,000 | 2 × ₹7,500 |
It runs for the whole course, excluding internships. To keep it, you need 55% each year in medicine or engineering, 50% in other courses, every subject passed, and no grace marks (scheme document, para 8). Money goes to your bank account by NEFT, so the account must be active.

How to apply before 15 October
- Open LIC's Golden Jubilee Foundation page and click Apply here for Scholarship Scheme 2026.
- Fill every field; the form won't submit with blanks. If your board gives grades, enter the equivalent percentage.
- Upload your parent's income certificate, your last mark sheet and proof of first-year admission for 2026-27, each image under 2 MB (LIC's instructions).
- Give a mobile number and email you check. LIC says email is its only way of contacting you, and the acknowledgement email names the LIC divisional office handling your form.
The income certificate must be issued by a revenue authority such as a tehsildar, SDM, district magistrate or an authorised panchayat or municipal officer, and show both parents' gross income for the previous financial year. If you're selected, you'll need to show the originals.
How selection works
Your form goes to one of LIC's 112 divisions based on your PIN code. Each division ranks eligible applicants by their Class 12 (or Class 10) percentage and picks 80 General scholars (40 boys, 40 girls) and 40 Special scholars (20 boys, 20 girls). Ties go to the student whose parents earn less. Unused seats can be shifted to divisions with waiting lists, up to 8,960 General and 4,480 Special scholarships in all. LIC's page also carries an older line about "20 candidates under Special Scholarship for Girls"; we've used the figures in the 2026 scheme document.
01
Myth Meeting the 60% and ₹4.5 lakh conditions guarantees the scholarship.
Fact No. Each LIC division ranks eligible applicants by their Class 12/10 percentage and selects 120. Ties go to the lower family income.
02
Myth You can't apply if you already get a government scholarship.
Fact You can. The scheme bars students getting a scholarship from another trust or institution, but says government (state or central) scholarships don't count.
03
Myth Only one child per family can ever get it.
Fact That's the general rule, but LIC allows a second scholar in a family if the later applicant is a girl or both are girls.
Before you hit submit: the first instalment falls due on selection and the second from 1 February 2027, which you claim by submitting your first-semester result or an attendance certificate.
