Two Drishyam 3 films: the short version
Earlier Hindi Drishyam films remade the Malayalam originals. That's no longer true. For the third part, the Hindi team wrote its own story. Director Abhishek Pathak put it this way: "It's a new story. It's nothing to do with Malayalam." Watching one Drishyam 3 won't spoil the other.

Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 3 movie (Hindi)
Release date and timeline
The Hindi film is officially called Drishyam: The Conclusion, though most people still call it Drishyam 3. It came out on 2 October 2026, Gandhi Jayanti. Fans will know why that date matters: 2 October is the date of Vijay Salgaonkar's alibi in the first film, and the promotions made a lot of it.
- December 2025: Release date announced. Filming starts.
- December 2025 to June 2026: Shot in Mumbai and Goa.
- August 2026: Title Drishyam: The Conclusion revealed.
- 9 September 2026: Trailer launched in Panjim, Goa.
- 28 September 2026: Soundtrack released by Sony Music.
- 2 October 2026: Theatrical release.
Drishyam 3 cast (Hindi)
- Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar
- Tabu as Meera Deshmukh
- Shriya Saran as Nandini, Vijay's wife
- Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav as the daughters
- Rajat Kapoor
- Jaideep Ahlawat as SP Rajveer Singh Tomar, the new cop on the case
- Prakash Raj
There were two cast changes. Akshaye Khanna, who played IG Tarun Ahlawat in Drishyam 2, left early in 2026, and Jaideep Ahlawat took over as the main police opponent. Paresh Rawal reportedly turned down a role in October 2025.
Runtime, budget and crew
The film runs 150 minutes and reportedly cost about ₹100–110 crore. Abhishek Pathak directed it and also co-wrote and co-produced it, as he did on Drishyam 2. Panorama Studios and Zee Studios handle overseas distribution.
Drishyam 3 box office collection
Trackers report different figures, and that's normal. Koimoi, Sacnilk, Zeebiz and Bollywood Hungama each collect data in their own way. Use the table below as a snapshot with sources, not as one official number.
| Milestone | Figure | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Opening day (India net) | About ₹62 cr (early tracking: ₹66.75 cr) | Koimoi; early Sacnilk tracking |
| Opening weekend (India net) | About ₹176.5 cr | Trade reports |
| Week 1 (India net) | About ₹245.5 cr | Oneindia |
| Day 20 (21 Oct) | ₹2.65 cr; ₹359.75 cr India net total | Sacnilk |
| After 19 days | ₹357.5 cr India net, ₹421.87 cr India gross, ₹140.94 cr overseas | Koimoi, 21 Oct |
| Worldwide total | ₹562.81 cr (Zeebiz: about ₹556 cr) | Koimoi, 21 Oct |
The film passed ₹500 crore worldwide in about 12 days. It is now Ajay Devgn's biggest film, ahead of Tanhaji's India lifetime and Singham Again's worldwide total. Sources disagree on its rank for 2026: Wikipedia lists it as the year's #2 Hindi film, while Oneindia had it just behind Border 2 at #3 as of 14 October. It's safe to say it is one of the top three Hindi grossers of the year.
Is it a hit? Comparison with Drishyam 2
Yes, and a big one. On a budget of roughly ₹100–110 crore, it is a clear blockbuster. Each film in the Hindi series has earned much more than the one before (India net):
- Drishyam (2015): ₹76.16 cr
- Drishyam 2 (2022): ₹250.59 cr
- Drishyam: The Conclusion (2026): ₹357.5 cr and still running
Reviews
Critics mostly gave it 3 to 3.5 stars. The performances, especially Devgn, Tabu and Ahlawat, got the most praise. The 150-minute length and the familiar cat-and-mouse formula drew the most criticism. Taran Adarsh gave it 4.5/5, Rediff gave it 2.5/5, and Rotten Tomatoes shows 100% from 17 critics.
Drishyam 3 OTT release date: Netflix (expected)
Reports say Netflix bought the digital rights to the Hindi film, but no streaming date has been officially announced. Entertainment sites expect it between 13 and 27 November 2026. A post from Inside Box Office on Threads named 27 November, but the makers haven't confirmed it. Big Hindi releases usually reach streaming six to eight weeks after release, and a film still earning money in theatres can take longer.
We'll update this page once Netflix or the producers confirm a date. Meanwhile, our weekly list of new OTT releases this week covers what's streaming now.
Mohanlal's Drishyam 3 movie (Malayalam)
Release date and timeline
Jeethu Joseph wrote and directed the Malayalam Drishyam 3, and Antony Perumbavoor produced it under Aashirvad Cinemas.
- 20 February 2025: Film announced.
- 22 September to 2 December 2025: Filming.
- 2 April 2026: Original release date, later pushed back because of the 2026 Iran war.
- 21 May 2026: Released in theatres on Mohanlal's birthday.
- 18 June 2026: Started streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
Cast
Mohanlal returns as Georgekutty, alongside Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Murali Gopy, Siddique and Asha Sharath. Mohanlal's year has been busy. He also made headlines for the body-double talk around Jailer 2.
Box office and where to watch
Reviews were mixed (60% on Rotten Tomatoes), but the film still earned about ₹237.70 crore worldwide. That is the most any Malayalam Drishyam film has made. It is on Amazon Prime Video in Malayalam, with Tamil, Telugu and Kannada dubbed versions. The Delhi High Court gave Prime interim relief in a dispute over the streaming rights, and the film stays available on the platform.
Drishyam 3 ending explained (spoilers)
Spoiler warning: this section gives away the ending of the Hindi film. Skip to the next heading if you haven't seen it.
Drishyam: The Conclusion takes place about six months after Drishyam 2. That film ended with Vijay having secretly swapped the remains the police dug up. In this one, the case reopens and SP Rajveer Singh Tomar's team starts to suspect the swap. The film shows Vijay plotting one step ahead of the police again. In the end, the court acquits the Salgaonkar family, and Vijay is never convicted. The makers call it a final ending, and it closes the Hindi story of Vijay Salgaonkar.
Is there a Drishyam 4?
The answer depends on which series you mean, and that's why the headlines seem to contradict each other.
- Malayalam: Producer Antony Perumbavoor confirmed Drishyam 4 on 23 August 2026.
- Hindi: Abhishek Pathak says a fourth film is "not in the works, not even remotely." Ajay Devgn leaves a little room: "For now, it's the conclusion. No one knows what will happen tomorrow."
So a "Drishyam 4 confirmed" headline is about Mohanlal's series, not Ajay Devgn's.
Which Drishyam 3 should you watch?
- Want to watch tonight at home? Watch the Malayalam film on Prime Video, with dubs in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
- Prefer the big screen or Hindi? Ajay Devgn's film is still in theatres in its third week. Otherwise, wait for its Netflix release.
- Thinking of watching both? Go ahead. The stories are separate, so one won't spoil the other.
