Jailer 2: what the trailer reveals

Sun Pictures released the trailer for Jailer 2 on the evening of Monday, 5 October. The film reaches theatres worldwide on 15 October 2026, including in IMAX. ETV Bharat reports it is Rajinikanth's first film to get a wide IMAX release.

Where the story picks up

Rajinikanth returns as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, the retired jailer from the 2023 film. In the trailer he is working as a driver and putting up with humiliation from people who don't know his past. Suraj Venjaramoodu's character appears to be looking for him. As in the first film, the trailer suggests Tiger goes back to his old ways once he is pushed into a corner.

Who is in it

Based on what the trailer shows, as reported by Hindustan Times:

• New faces who look like antagonists: SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan and Mithun Chakraborty.
• Returning allies: Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Jackie Shroff.
• Also in the cast: Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Anna Rajan and Jatin Sarna.

The trailer ends on a comic beat from Yogi Babu's character, pointing out that Tiger kills people and then goes back to cleaning a car as if nothing happened.

Fans online have speculated about a teased cameo. Nothing has been confirmed by the makers, so we are not naming anyone.

The team behind it

Nelson Dilipkumar directs again. Anirudh Ravichander composes the music, with cinematography by Vijay Kartik Kannan and editing by R Nirmal, according to The Hindu.
