Short answer: Mirzapur Season 4 is being written, but it has no release date. Director Gurmmeet Singh says the production timeline will be finalised only by early 2027. And Mirzapur: The Movie, which has been in theatres since 4 September, isn't a bridge to Season 4: it is set inside Season 1.
What's confirmed about Mirzapur Season 4
- Scripting is underway. Gurmmeet Singh told Variety India that writing has begun, Mid-Day reported on 18 October.
- Production timeline: early 2027. That's when the makers expect to lock the schedule. It is not a shoot date and not a premiere date.
- It should pick up from Season 3. Mid-Day reports the team planned the fourth season alongside the film, with the series expected to continue from the Season 3 finale.
- Not announced: plot, returning cast list, filming dates and the streaming date.
Shweta Tripathi, who plays Golu Gupta, first said it at NDTV Yuva on 28 September: "Season 4 ki likhai chalu hai" (the writing is on). On 18 October she told Mid-Day that Golu "is still changing" and that she'd love to keep discovering new sides of her.
Where Mirzapur: The Movie fits
The film takes place between Episodes 6 and 7 of Season 1. That's why Munna, Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu and Golu are all back, along with characters who die later in the series. Ali Fazal had suggested fans watch the first six episodes of Season 1 before going to the film.
Shweta Tripathi's advice to viewers is to keep the two stories separate: everything in the film belongs to Season 1, so when Season 4 comes, "yeh sab bhool jaana hoga" (you'll have to forget all this).
New faces in the film include Jitendra Kumar (as Babban, called "Babua"), Ravi Kishan and Sonal Chauhan. It carries an A certificate and runs about 3 hours 17 minutes.
How the film did, and when it could stream
Siasat, citing Sacnilk, reported ₹220.10 crore gross (₹184.79 crore nett) at the domestic box office. Prime Video, which has backed Mirzapur since the series began in 2018, holds the streaming rights.
When Prime Video announced the film in October 2024, it said the film would stream in India and 240+ countries eight weeks after its theatrical release. Eight weeks from 4 September lands on about 30 October. Prime Video hasn't confirmed a date yet, and the 16–30 October window you may have seen in some reports was always an estimate.
