CBSE 2027 date sheet: when it's expected, and how Class 10's two-exam system works
The CBSE 2027 date sheet isn't out yet, and any subject-wise list you've seen is unofficial. Here's what's confirmed (the 21 October LOC deadline), what's expected and when, and how the new Class 10 setup works: a compulsory February exam plus an optional May exam to improve up to three subjects.
TL;DRThe short version
- Not released yet: as of 10 October, CBSE hasn't published the 2027 Class 10 or 12 date sheet. Reports expect it in October–November. Last year's tentative sheet came out on 24 September.
- Confirmed date: schools must submit the list of candidates (LOC) by 21 October. There's a late window until 30 October, with a reported ₹2,000 fee per student.
- Two exams for Class 10: the February exam is compulsory. An optional May exam lets students improve up to three subjects (science, maths, social science, languages), and the better score counts.
- Download the official date sheet from CBSE's website when it's released: cbse.gov.inOur CBSE 2027 tracker has a countdown to the LOC deadline and switches to the real date sheet on release day.

Last year, CBSE released the tentative date sheet on 24 September, much earlier than usual. This year it's already later than that. Treat any subject-wise 2027 "date sheet" circulating before CBSE's announcement as fake.
How Class 10's two board exams work
CBSE notified the two-exam system in June 2025. The 2026-27 batch is the second to sit it.
- Exam 1 (February–March): compulsory. Every Class 10 student takes it in all subjects.
- Exam 2 (May): optional. You can retake up to three subjects from science, maths, social science and languages to improve your score. The better of the two scores counts.
- Internal assessment happens once and carries over to both exams.
- Results: exam 1 around April, exam 2 around June. You can use your exam 1 marksheet to get provisional Class 11 admission.
- Who can't take exam 2: students absent from three or more papers in exam 1 are treated as "Essential Repeat" (Careers360).
Class 12 still has one main board exam, plus the usual supplementary exam.
What to do now
- Students: check with your school that your LOC details (name, subjects, date of birth) are correct before 21 October. Mistakes become much harder to fix later.
- Plan your revision for February, not for May. The May exam is a backup for up to three subjects, not a second chance at everything.
- Bookmark cbse.gov.in and our tracker. We'll update both on release day.
