Amazon sale 2026 dates in India: Great Indian Festival runs till Diwali, SBI card offer ends 20 October

Short answer: Amazon's sale this year, the Great Indian Festival 2026, opened to everyone at 12:00 AM on 8 October and, in Amazon's own words on 12 October, "continues till Diwali with great offers and deals every day". Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November 2026. Amazon has not announced an exact closing date. The deadline most shoppers should actually plan around is 11:59 PM on 20 October, when the SBI credit card 10% instant discount ends.

Why everyone is asking today

Flipkart's Big Billion Days ends at 11:59 PM tonight (18 October), as News18 Hindi reported on the sale's last day, and the Axis Bank and ICICI Bank card offers on Flipkart run until the same time, per Axis Bank's published terms summarised by Monzy. Shoppers who missed Flipkart are checking whether Amazon still has time left. It does, but its bank discount has a shorter clock than the sale itself.

The SBI card offer: what you still get until 20 October

SBI Card's offer terms give a 10% instant discount on select products bought on Amazon.in with an eligible SBI credit card, from 12 AM on 8 October to 11:59 PM on 20 October 2026. The caps dropped after the first four days. For the main sale, 12 to 20 October:

On top of that, SBI lists bonus discounts on bigger single orders: for example an extra ₹250 on ₹14,990 or more, and ₹5,000 more on a full-payment order of ₹99,990 or more (₹500 on 6-month-plus EMI, ₹2,500 on 9-month-plus EMI at that size). Base and bonus offers add up when the order qualifies, but only on select products, so the product page has to show the offer. SBI caps the total at ₹49,250 per card for the whole offer period, and says the base offer refreshes on set days, the last one being 19 October.

What doesn't qualify, per SBI's terms:

• Cards: corporate cards, the Cashback SBI card, Paytm SBI and Flipkart SBI cards, and RuPay credit cards used through UPI.
• Purchases: gift cards, recharges, bill payments, digital gold, Prime subscriptions, Amazon Pay balance top-ups, travel, movie and insurance bookings, and installation orders.
• Payment types: Card on Delivery and down-payment EMI.

Two catches worth knowing: SBI forfeits the reward points on offer transactions, and if you cancel or return the item, the instant discount isn't refunded; you get back only what you actually paid.

What about other cards?

Amazon's offer pages also promote Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card cashback (reported at 5% for Prime members and 3% for others) and Amazon Pay Later. Those are ongoing card and wallet benefits rather than a sale-only discount, so they don't end on 20 October. If you don't hold an SBI card, compare what each of your cards gives on the order before you pick a payment option.

Will there be another Amazon sale before Diwali?

Amazon hasn't announced a separate sale after the Great Indian Festival. Its line that the festival "continues till Diwali with great offers and deals every day" means the event stays live, but individual deals, prices and bank caps can change at any point. • Check the product page for the SBI offer line. SBI says some products are eligible for the base discount but not the bonus.
