The SSC JE exam city intimation slip for Paper 1 of the Junior Engineer Examination 2026 has been out since 23 October 2026. To see your exam city, date and shift, log in at ssc.gov.in/login. The exam starts on 2 November, so as of 25 October you have about a week to plan travel. The slip is not an entry pass, though. You still need the admit card, which SSC had not released as of 25 October 2026.
How to check your SSC JE exam city intimation slip
- Go to ssc.gov.in/login, or open ssc.gov.in and click Login/Register.
- Enter your registration number, password and the captcha.
- On your dashboard, open "Junior Engineer Examination, 2026 (Computer Based Examination) Paper-I Exam City Intimation".
- Check your details, then save or screenshot the slip.
The slip shows your name, registration number, exam city and state, exam date and shift. It doesn't give the exact centre address, roll number or photo. Those will be on the admit card.
Why your slip isn't showing
- Your exam is on 5 or 6 November. According to Testbook, SSC first released slips only for exams on 2, 3 and 4 November. Slips for the later dates should follow.
- You applied for JE Telecom (DoT). Telecom has separate exam dates (30 November–1 December), so its slip comes later, around 20 November by Testbook's estimate.
- You're on the wrong exam. RRB JE (Railways) city slips are coming out around the same time. RRB JE is a different exam on different websites. Also ignore older pages about a Paper 2 city slip from March 2026. That was the previous cycle.
Can you change your exam city? Only if SSC decides to allow it, and only through its official channels. Don't pay anyone who offers to change it for you.
Shift timings and what to carry
Testbook lists these shifts, based on last year's exam. They aren't official for 2026. Your admit card will have the timings that actually apply to you. Gates are expected to close 30 minutes before the start.
| Shift | Exam time | Reporting time |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 9:00–11:00 AM | 8:00 AM |
| 2 | 1:00–3:00 PM | 12:00 PM |
| 3 | 5:00–7:00 PM | 4:00 PM |
Paper 1 has 50 questions each on Reasoning and General Awareness and 100 on Engineering. If you're bringing your own scribe, map the scribe to your OTR and finish Aadhaar authentication by 27 October 2026, 11:00 PM. According to FreeJobAlert and Testbook, scribe registrations made before 5 November 2025 were disposed of, so those candidates need to register again. FreeJobAlert says Scientific Assistant subject changes have the same deadline. These details come from those two sites, because we couldn't extract the text of SSC's notice to confirm them.
1,699 or 1,748 vacancies?
1,699 is the current tentative number. The notification of 2 September 2026 listed 1,748 posts. Around 8 October SSC released a revised tentative vacancy list that cut 49 posts. One source dates it 9 October. Several job sites still show 1,748, which is out of date. The posts are Group B, Level 6, with pay of ₹35,400–₹1,12,400.
What happens next
- Admit card: it will be on the same login. There's no official date yet. Coaching sites expect it from about 29–31 October, or 2–3 days before your exam, which works out to roughly 30 October to 4 November.
- Paper 1: 2–6 November (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, IMD), and 30 November–1 December (Telecom).
- Paper 2: December 2026, tentatively. After that come document verification and the medical.
Our weekly roundup of answer keys and admit cards this week tracks other releases. JE candidates also applying elsewhere can see our AAI Manager and JE admit card guide, and the SSC GD 2026 result and cut-off post shows how SSC publishes merit lists. More exam updates are on the KyunTrend homepage.
