It was a game of chances without a goal, and the biggest chance came last. Deep in stoppage time, Odisha defender Stephen Eze handled the ball in the box while defending a corner. NorthEast's Alaaeddine Ajaraie, who has two goals already this season, took the penalty and hit the post. India.com's match report says that was the last action of the night.
Odisha owed the point to goalkeeper Hrithik Tiwari. KhelNow's player ratings gave him the best mark for six saves, and gave Eze the lowest for the late handball. Reports describe it as the first goalless draw of ISL 2026-27.

What the draw means for NorthEast United
NorthEast are unbeaten in three games and top of the table. Their season started with a last-minute Jithin MS winner against Mohun Bagan SG. They then beat Kerala Blasters 4–1 on 18 October, and now they've kept a clean sheet away from home. They have conceded one goal in three matches.
The missed penalty still stings. A win would have taken them to 9 points and three clear. Instead, East Bengal can go top if they win their game in hand, because their goal difference of +8 is far better than NorthEast's +4.
What the draw means for Odisha FC
Odisha have L D D from three games and no win yet. They lost 1–2 to Punjab FC on 14 October, drew 1–1 with Inter Kashi on 17 October, and have now drawn with the league leaders. Holding the top side to a clean sheet is a good sign, but 2 points from three games leaves them 8th. With only six of 13 clubs reaching the ISL Cup playoffs, they need wins soon.

How the ISL points table works this season
Some things changed in 2026-27, and they affect how you read the standings:
- 13 clubs. The AIFF confirmed on 19 August 2026 that the season would go ahead with 13 clubs. Jamshedpur withdrew and Churchill Brothers took over its licence. Diamond Harbour was barred and counts as relegated.
- Format. Every club plays every other club home and away from 10 October 2026 to May 2027. The top 6 go to the ISL Cup playoffs.
- What first place wins. The League Shield winner qualifies for the AFC Challenge League preliminary stage, the competition where FC Goa's run ended against Al Qadsia. Relegation still applies.
- New name and owners. MG Motor is title sponsor for two seasons, so the league is now the "MG Indian Super League". The clubs run its commercial rights through a club-led company under a four-year agreement signed on 8 July 2026, and the AIFF still regulates the league.

- Open the official ISL standings page on indiansuperleague.com.
- Check the P (played) column. Early in the season, a club with a game in hand can be behind on points but in a better position.
- If two clubs are level on points, compare goal difference (GD) and goals scored (GF).
- Don't rely on look-alike sites. isl.com.in ranks in search but doesn't look official, and its table was dated 14 October when we checked. Some score apps were also showing older tables on 24 October.
