Hyundai Bayon price in India on road: expected cost in 10 cities ahead of the 26 October launch

Hyundai launches the Bayon on 26 October and hasn't announced a price yet. Autocar India expects ₹9–14 lakh ex-showroom, or about ₹10.59–17.29 lakh on the road in Delhi. Here's what's confirmed, what's still a guess, and a calculator that turns any ex-showroom price into an on-road estimate for your city.

TL;DRThe short version

  • No official price yet. Hyundai launches the Bayon on 26 October 2026 (Hyundai, 12 Oct). Autocar India expects ₹9–14 lakh ex-showroom and lists an expected Delhi on-road price of ₹10.59 lakh (petrol MT) to ₹17.29 lakh (petrol IVT). Treat every price on this page as expected until launch day.
  • What's confirmed: a 4.2-metre SUV with Hyundai's 1.5-litre petrol (115 PS, 144 Nm), a 6-speed manual or IVT automatic, dual 12.3-inch curved screens, and Hyundai India's first generative AI voice assistant (Hyundai press releases). Autocar places it between the Venue and the Creta, against the Maruti Victoris.
  • On-road maths: on the expected ex-showroom range, our calculator puts it at roughly ₹9.9–10.8 lakh on ₹9 lakh and ₹15.4–17.2 lakh on ₹14 lakh across 10 cities. Bengaluru is the dearest and Ahmedabad the cheapest. Above ₹10 lakh, 1% TCS kicks in.
  • Bookings are open for ₹11,000 on Hyundai India's Bayon page or at a dealer, but the token is the only firm number so far: hyundai.com › Bayon (official)Prices are announced on 26 Oct. Ask your dealer whether the ₹11,000 is refundable before you pay; Hyundai's release doesn't say.

Short answer: there's no official Hyundai Bayon price in India yet, on road or ex-showroom. Hyundai announces it on 26 October. Autocar India expects ₹9–14 lakh ex-showroom, and its model page shows an expected Delhi on-road price of ₹10.59–17.29 lakh. On those numbers, expect to pay about ₹1–3 lakh more than the sticker once road tax, insurance and TCS are added, depending on your city and variant.

Estimate the Bayon's on-road price in your city

Autocar India expects ₹9–14 lakh. Quick fill:

The calculator uses the same road-tax and fee data as our car on-road price estimator: each state's petrol-car road tax, ₹800 registration and smart card, the regulated 3-year third-party premium for a 1,000–1,500 cc car, and typical figures for the number plate, FASTag, personal accident cover and own-damage insurance. The ₹11.5 lakh button is just the midpoint of Autocar's range, not a leaked price.

Expected on-road price at both ends of the range

These are our estimates on Autocar's expected ex-showroom range, with year-1 own-damage cover included:

City On ₹9 lakh ex-showroom On ₹14 lakh ex-showroom
Delhi ₹9.97 lakh ₹15.98 lakh
Mumbai / Pune ₹10.35 lakh ₹16.29 lakh
Bengaluru ₹10.75 lakh ₹17.23 lakh
Chennai ₹10.51 lakh ₹17.10 lakh
Hyderabad ₹10.60 lakh ₹17.10 lakh
Kolkata ₹10.24 lakh ₹15.98 lakh
Ahmedabad ₹9.88 lakh ₹15.42 lakh
Jaipur ₹10.35 lakh ₹16.15 lakh
Lucknow ₹10.15 lakh ₹16.12 lakh

Our read on Autocar's numbers: its Delhi on-road figures (₹10.59 lakh and ₹17.29 lakh) come out higher than what Delhi's taxes add to its own ₹9–14 lakh ex-showroom range (₹9.97 and ₹15.98 lakh on our maths). Autocar doesn't show its working. It may assume dearer variants, or include extras such as comprehensive insurance add-ons and dealer handling charges. Either way, the gap tells you to ask for an itemised quote, line by line, when prices come out.

Two thresholds matter for the final bill. First, TCS of 1% applies on cars above ₹10 lakh ex-showroom. You can claim it back in your income-tax return, but it's cash out on the day. Second, in Delhi, road tax jumps from 7% to 10% above ₹10 lakh. So a Bayon variant priced at ₹10.1 lakh pays about ₹41,000 more in road tax and TCS in Delhi than one at ₹9.99 lakh, for an ₹11,000 difference in sticker price.

What Hyundai has confirmed so far

  • Launch date: 26 October 2026. Bookings opened on 23 September for ₹11,000 online or at any Hyundai dealer. Hyundai says the delivery timeline will be shared at launch.
  • Engine: the Creta's 1.5-litre petrol with 115 PS and 144 Nm, with a 6-speed manual or IVT (Hyundai's name for its CVT automatic). Autocar expects a CNG version later; Hyundai hasn't confirmed it.
  • Size: Hyundai calls it a 4.2-metre "mid-size SUV". That's longer than the sub-4-metre Venue and a little shorter than the Creta (about 4.3 m, per Autocar).
  • Tech: Hyundai India's first generative AI voice assistant, built with Perplexity and SoundHound AI. Hyundai's own examples: plan a road-trip itinerary, find hotels or restaurants on your route, or give cricket scores. It also gets an NVIDIA-accelerated connected navigation cockpit, dual 12.3-inch curved displays, 70+ Bluelink connected features, over-the-air updates for vehicle controllers, and menus in 10 regional and 2 international languages.
  • Safety: built on the Global K Enhanced Platform, which Hyundai says is "engineered for 5-star Indian safety standards". The footnote reads "as per internal assessment", and the release notes type approval has been applied for. There's no Bharat NCAP rating yet.

Mileage and the variant list aren't public yet. Autocar expects fuel efficiency similar to the Creta's, since it uses the same engine.

Where it fits, and who it's for

Autocar describes the Bayon as Hyundai's answer to the Maruti Suzuki Victoris: a cheaper way into the midsize SUV class, below the Creta, which it expects to move up-market in its next generation. The interior is shared with the Brazil-spec i20, and it has a Venue-style steering wheel with a separate drive-mode selector.

Our read: the Bayon's case rests on price. With the Creta's engine and screens but no turbo or diesel option at launch, it only makes sense if Hyundai prices it clearly below the Creta. If the base manual comes in under ₹10 lakh ex-showroom, it skips TCS and, in Delhi, the 10% road-tax slab, and it becomes a strong value buy. If it starts near ₹11–12 lakh, the gap to a base Creta narrows, and that buyer may as well step up. We'll know on 26 October.

Should you book now?

The ₹11,000 gets you in the queue, and that's all it does: there's no price, no variant list and no delivery date yet. Booking makes sense if you've already decided on a Hyundai in this size and want an early delivery slot. Ask the dealer in writing whether the token is refundable if you don't like the price, because Hyundai's release doesn't say. Otherwise, wait the six days.

Interest in the Bayon spiked to 100 on Google's 30-day index on 13 October, the day after Hyundai revealed the India-spec SUV, settled at 25–48 through mid-month, and climbed again to 68 on 19 October as the launch neared. Over the past week, 'on road' price searches rose faster than plain price searches: people want the number they'll actually pay.
