iPhone 17 'effective price' decoded: what you'll really pay on Flipkart vs Amazon

Flipkart's iPhone 17 banner says ₹81,999. Amazon's sale talks of 10% off with SBI. We opened both listings at 12:50 PM IST on 10 October and did the maths: what you'll actually pay depends on the card in your wallet and the phone you trade in.

TL;DRThe short version

  • Flipkart (seen 12:50 PM IST, 10 Oct): iPhone 17 256 GB at ₹86,999, or ₹81,999 if you pay with a card that gets the ₹5,000 offer (shown for SBI and Flipkart Axis cards). That's up from the ₹84,999 sale price reported when the sale opened.
  • Amazon: the SBI card offer on the iPhone 17 page was capped at ₹1,250, not a flat 10%. The 512 GB model was ₹1,09,999, the same as on Flipkart. The 256 GB listing redirected to another model when we checked.
  • “Effective price” banners assume you get the top exchange value. Put in what your phone is worth in our Flipkart vs Amazon calculator.
  • Check today's price and the card offers for your pincode on the Flipkart listing (plain link, no affiliate tag): flipkart.com › Apple iPhone 17 (Black, 256 GB)Sale prices change through the day. The amount on the checkout page is the one that counts.

Short answer: on Flipkart the iPhone 17 (256 GB) is ₹86,999, and ₹81,999 if your card gets the ₹5,000 offer. On Amazon, the SBI discount on the iPhone 17 page is capped at ₹1,250. Anything lower than that, such as the ₹79,999 “effective price” in sale ads, only works if you also trade in a phone and get a good exchange value for it.

We checked both listings at 12:50 PM IST on 10 October 2026. Prices and offers change through the sale and can vary by pincode and seller. All links here are plain links: no affiliate tags, no commission.

Why ₹84,999 became ₹86,999

When Flipkart's Big Billion Days began, PCQuest, NDTV Profit and Hindustan Times all reported a sale price of ₹84,999 for the 256 GB iPhone 17, and an effective price of ₹79,999 with bank and exchange offers. When we checked at midday on 10 October, the listing showed ₹86,999, with “Buy at ₹81,999” after the card offer. That's normal for sales: prices often change between sale days or once a batch of stock sells out.

The three things that change your price

  1. Your card. Flipkart's ₹5,000 offer was shown for SBI and Flipkart Axis cards, and ICICI cards got ₹2,000. On Amazon, the sale is advertised as “10% off with SBI”, but the iPhone 17 page capped it at ₹1,250. If you don't have one of these cards, you pay the sale price.
  2. Your old phone. Flipkart shows exchange “up to ₹59,050” on the 256 GB model. That top figure is for a recent, flawless phone, and the value also depends on your pincode. The tool asks for your phone's actual quote.
  3. Fees and cashback. Flipkart showed a ₹299 “Protect Promise” fee next to the price; check whether it applies to your order at checkout. Amazon's ICICI cashback arrives later as Amazon Pay balance, so it doesn't lower what you pay at checkout.

Try your own numbers

The iPhone 17 effective price calculator puts Flipkart and Amazon side by side. Pick your storage and your card, add your phone's real exchange value, and it shows what you'd pay on each site and how far below Apple's price that is.

Other options people are asking about

  • Reliance Digital: NDTV Profit reported the iPhone 17 256 GB at ₹79,899 in its Festival of Electronics sale from 9 October, with a ₹3,000 bank cashback and an exchange bonus of up to ₹8,000. We haven't checked that listing ourselves.
  • Apple Store online: ₹99,900 for 256 GB. Apple offers Trade In credit rather than sale discounts.

We'll update this page if prices on either site change significantly during the sale.
