Which voter form do I need?

Form 6, 7 or 8? Pick what you need to do, and we'll show the Election Commission form and where to file it. Most of it can be done online on voters.eci.gov.in.

From official sources only: ECI's forms page and Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer's SIR 2026 FAQ, checked 10 October 2026. SIR dates differ by state, so check your state CEO's website. Voter helpline: 1950.

What do you need to do?

No form: search: Find my (or a parent's) name in the last SIR roll (2002, 2003 or 2005, depending on the state)

  1. On voters.eci.gov.in, use “Search your name in last SIR”. Pick your state, district and assembly constituency, then type the elector's full name and relative's name exactly as they were in that roll.
  2. In Delhi, the last SIR was in 2002. CEO Delhi has put that roll online at ceodelhinet.nic.in.
  3. Note the relative's name, AC name and number, polling station number and part serial number. The enumeration form asks for these.
  4. Not in the old roll? You can link yourself to a parent's or relative's entry in that roll instead (CEO Delhi FAQ).

No form: search: Check if I'm on the current voter list

  1. Search by EPIC number or by your details at electoralsearch.eci.gov.in.
  2. In a state where SIR is under way, also check the draft roll. Ask your BLO or check your state CEO's website.

Form 6: I'm 18+ and not registered yet (first-time voter)

  1. Fill Form 6 (application for new voters) online on voters.eci.gov.in or the ECINet app, or on paper from your BLO.
  2. In Delhi's SIR, anyone turning 18 on or before 1 Oct 2026 can apply in Form 6 with the declaration form (CEO Delhi FAQ).

Form 6: My name isn't in the SIR draft roll (I missed the enumeration form)

  1. File Form 6 with the declaration form and supporting documents during the claims and objections period (CEO Delhi FAQ).
  2. Dates vary by state. Delhi's claims window ran from 31 Aug to 30 Sep 2026, and its final roll is due on 4 Nov 2026. If you're still missing from the final roll, CEO Delhi says you can appeal to the District Election Officer within 15 days.

Form 8 (or Form 6 under SIR): I've moved house

  1. Normally you file Form 8 for “shifting of residence” on voters.eci.gov.in.
  2. During an SIR, if your name was left out of the draft roll as “permanently shifted”, CEO Delhi's FAQ says to file Form 6 at your new address during the claims period instead.

Form 8: My name, age, photo or other details are wrong

  1. File Form 8 for “correction of entries in the existing electoral roll” on voters.eci.gov.in.

Form 8: I've lost my voter ID card (EPIC) or it's damaged

  1. File Form 8 for “replacement of EPIC” on voters.eci.gov.in.

Form 8: Mark me as a person with disability (PwD)

  1. File Form 8 for “marking of PwD” on voters.eci.gov.in.

Form 7: Remove a name (a deceased family member, or my own duplicate entry) or object to an entry

  1. File Form 7, the application for objection to a proposed inclusion or deletion of a name, on voters.eci.gov.in.
  2. The law says no one can be registered in more than one constituency, or more than once in one constituency (Sections 17 and 18, RP Act 1950). Keep only the entry where you live now.

Form 6A: I'm an Indian citizen living abroad (overseas elector)

  1. File Form 6A, the application for inclusion by an overseas Indian elector, on voters.eci.gov.in.

Form 6B: Give my Aadhaar number for roll authentication

  1. Form 6B is the letter of information of your Aadhaar number. In Delhi's SIR enumeration form, giving your Aadhaar is optional (CEO Delhi FAQ).
