The NEET PG counselling result for Round 1 is final. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) published the provisional All India Quota (AIQ) seat allotment on 23 October 2026, a day earlier than the 24 October date in the schedule. Candidates could report errors by email until 11:30 AM on 24 October. The final result and the allotment letters followed later that day. About 28,700 candidates got a seat, and reporting runs from 26 October to 2 November.
This guide covers how to check the result, how freeze, float and free exit work under the 2026 rules, the documents you need for reporting, the Round 2 schedule and the state counselling dates (UP, MP, Haryana and Assam). A quick note: mcc.nic.in blocked our checks, and we didn't find any MCC notice dated 25 October. Everything below comes from MCC documents mirrored by Medical Dialogues and from news and coaching sites. Where those sources disagree, we say so.
How to check the NEET PG counselling result on MCC
There are two things to check: the public result PDF, which needs no login, and your personal allotment letter, which does.
Check the Round 1 result PDF
- Go to MCC's PG Medical Counselling page.
- Open the Round 1 result PDF. MCC replaced the first PDF on 24 October because of a printing error, so open the newest file. KollegeApply reports that MCC says the allotments didn't change.
- Press Ctrl+F (or "Find in page" on your phone) and search for your NEET PG roll number. The row shows your allotted institute, course and quota.
Download the allotment letter
- On the PG Medical Counselling page, open Candidate Login / Activity Board and sign in with your registration number and password. These are the same details you used for NEET PG 2026 Round 1 registration.
- Download the allotment letter that came with the final result and save it as a PDF.
- Print at least two copies. You'll need one when you report.
Roll number not in the PDF? You didn't get a Round 1 seat. You can register again for Round 2 between 6 and 11 November 2026.
Provisional vs final: which list counts?
The provisional list (23 October) let candidates email MCC about errors until 11:30 AM on 24 October. After that window closed, MCC released the final Round 1 result on 24 October. Careers360's live blog reported it at 2:34 PM, and Shiksha's headline calls it the "Round 1 Final Result". Only the final result, and the allotment letter that comes with it, counts for reporting.
About the count: the provisional notice says 28,723 candidates were allotted, and several reports from 24 October say 28,728. The difference is probably between the provisional and final lists, but no source has confirmed that. That's why we say "about 28,700".
NEET PG reporting after Round 1: dates and documents
Reporting runs from 26 October to 2 November 2026. Don't leave it to the last day, because MCC verifies joined candidates on 3 November. Under the 2026 rules, all admissions and resignations go through the intra-MCC portal only, and colleges can't accept offline admissions. You upload your documents once, within 2–3 days of the final allotment (MCC information bulletin, 8 October).
Documents to carry
Take originals plus photocopies of:
- NEET PG 2026 admit card
- NEET PG 2026 scorecard (result)
- MCC Round 1 allotment letter
- MBBS marksheets and degree certificate
- Internship completion certificate
- Medical registration with MCI/NMC or your state medical council
- Date-of-birth proof
- Government photo ID
- Passport-size photos
- Category, EWS or PwBD certificate, if you claim one
Colleges sometimes ask for more, such as a medical fitness certificate. Check your allotted institute's website or call its admission office before you go.
Freeze, float or free exit? Round-by-round rules
This is where most candidates lose money, so read it before you report. The rules below come from the MCC information bulletin of 8 October 2026, as reported by Medical Dialogues.
- Freeze: you accept the seat, report in person with your original documents and leave the upgrade process.
- Float: you submit willingness online and the institute checks your documents online, so you don't have to visit. You stay in line for an upgrade in Round 2. If you get an upgrade, you lose the old seat.
| Round | If you don't join or you resign | Upgrade possible? |
|---|---|---|
| Round 1 | Free exit. You keep your security deposit, but the registration fee isn't refunded. Float candidates resign online through "Resignation/Surrender" in the candidate login. Freeze candidates resign in person at the college | Yes, if you choose float |
| Round 2 | You lose your security deposit | Yes, into Round 3 |
| Round 3 | You lose your deposit and can't take part in later rounds | No. You can't upgrade, resign or exit |
| Stray vacancy | You lose your deposit | No |
A simple decision guide for Round 1
- Happy with your seat? Choose freeze and report in person by 2 November.
- Want something better but would keep this seat? Choose float. If Round 2 gives you a better seat, you lose the Round 1 seat. If it gives you nothing new, you keep the Round 1 seat.
- Don't want this seat at all? Use the free exit. You keep your deposit and can still take part in Round 2.
- Waiting on state counselling? You can't hold an AIQ seat and a state quota seat at the same time, so you'll have to pick one. MCC fills 50% of government MD/MS seats (the AIQ) plus deemed, central university and other central seats. States fill the other 50% themselves.
Fees and security deposit
These figures come from Careers360 and other reports. Some sources give different deposit amounts, so check them against the MCC bulletin.
| Quota / category | Registration fee (non-refundable) | Security deposit (refundable) |
|---|---|---|
| AIQ / central universities, General | ₹1,000 | ₹25,000 |
| AIQ / central universities, SC/ST/OBC | ₹500 | ₹10,000 |
| Deemed universities | ₹5,000 | ₹2,00,000 |
Deposits are refunded only after all rounds finish. If you're considering deemed seats, budget carefully. Reports from 23–24 October say some deemed and private colleges have raised PG fees by up to 1,471%, and some MD/MS courses now cost over ₹2 crore.

State NEET PG counselling dates: UP, MP, Haryana and Assam
State quota counselling is running alongside MCC Round 1, which is a big reason searches like "up neet pg counselling 2026 result date" have jumped:
- Uttar Pradesh (upneet.gov.in, DGME UP): registration opened on 21 October and closes at 11 AM on 26 October. Reports put the fee payment deadline at 2 PM. The merit list comes out on 26 October, choice filling runs from 5 PM on 26 October to 5 PM on 30 October, and the Round 1 result is due on 2 November. One source alone lists admission windows of 3–7 November and 12–13 November [Careers360, Aakash, MedAdmit]
- Madhya Pradesh: 4,776 candidates are on the state merit list. Choice filling runs 24–27 October, the result is due on 29 October and reporting runs from 30 October to 10 November [Careers360 live blog]
- Haryana: the merit list is expected "soon" on hry.online-counselling.co.in [Careers360 live blog]
- Assam: choice filling runs 26–28 October, the result is due on 2 November and reporting is on 9–10 November. The published schedule has some inconsistencies, so confirm on the official portal [Careers360 live blog]
The UP result comes out on 2 November, the same day MCC Round 1 reporting closes. If you hold an AIQ seat and are also waiting on UP, plan around that date. Remember that a Round 1 free exit keeps your deposit, but from Round 2 onwards, leaving a seat costs you the deposit.
NEET MDS: none of the sources we checked had confirmed NEET MDS counselling dates, so we haven't listed any. Check MCC's MDS counselling section directly.
What about closing ranks?
None of the sources have reliable 2026 Round 1 closing ranks by branch or college yet. Be careful with rank tables circulating on social media until you can trace them back to the official MCC allotment PDF. We'll add verified figures once they're out.
