The latest Zimbabwe Women vs India Women match is the 1st ODI at BCA Stadium, Kotambi, Vadodara, today (Friday, 23 October 2026). It has no result yet. At the last confirmed update, Zimbabwe were 40/1 after 7.5 overs, having won the toss and chosen to bat. India have already won the three-match T20I series 3–0 in Raipur. That means the ODI leg, which counts towards the ICC Women's Championship, is the only thing still to be decided in this first bilateral series between the two teams.
This page collects every completed scorecard from the tour, along with the top performers, squads, the 1st ODI line-up news and the remaining fixtures. It picks up where our report on Shafali Verma's 55 in the 2nd T20I left off.

Squads and playing XIs
India ODI squad
Smriti Mandhana (c), Deepti Sharma (vc), Yastika Bhatia (wk), Richa Ghosh (wk), Shafali Verma, Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol, Harmanpreet Kaur, Shree Charani, Kranti Gaud, Tejal Hasabnis, Sayali Satghare, Nandani Sharma, Vaishnavi Sharma, Renuka Singh.
A note on Jintimani Kalita: The tour's Wikipedia page lists Kalita only in the T20I squad, but she made her ODI debut today. She was most likely added to the ODI group later. We have not printed the full India XI for the 1st ODI because the confirmed line-up is not available to us. Kalita is the one confirmed new name.
Zimbabwe squad (same for both formats)
Josephine Nkomo (c, ruled out of the 1st ODI with a niggle), Nomvelo Sibanda (stand-in captain), Sharne Mayers, Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano, Beloved Biza, Kelis Ndhlovu, Nyasha Gwanzura, plus wicketkeepers Dhururu and Mupachikwa. Other squad members fill out the group.
Why this series matters more than the scoreline
ICC Women's Championship points are at stake
The three ODIs count towards the ICC Women's Championship 2025–29, which is the qualification route for the next Women's ODI World Cup. This is India's first series of the new cycle. India have played only three ODIs since winning the World Cup in November 2025, so these games also give the team rare 50-over practice.
Smriti Mandhana's first series as captain
Harmanpreet Kaur stepped down as India captain in all formats on 6 October 2026. Her decision followed a BCCI review in Guwahati after India failed to reach the T20 World Cup semi-finals, and came about two weeks after she had led India to Asian Games gold. Mandhana is now full-time white-ball captain, and this tour is her first in charge. Kaur is still in the side as a batter, and her 91* in Raipur suggests she is playing freely. For more on how Indian cricket's decision-makers are changing, see our piece on the BCCI selection committee changes.
A first for Zimbabwe
This is the first bilateral series ever played between India Women and Zimbabwe Women. Zimbabwe lost the T20Is heavily, but Mayers' consistency and Gwanzura's spell in the opener showed there is real ability in the side. Several of these players could get noticed ahead of the WPL 2027 auction.

Vadodara pitch and conditions
All three ODIs are day/night games at Kotambi, so evening dew is the main factor to watch. A wet ball is harder for spinners to grip and usually makes batting easier under lights. That is one reason a side might choose to chase. Zimbabwe chose to bat today anyway, probably to avoid chasing a big Indian total. Whether that pays off depends on how much the dew helps India when they bat in the second innings.

What to watch in the rest of the ODI series
- Mandhana's captaincy in the longer format: ODIs test field placements and bowling changes more than T20Is do.
- Shafali Verma's form: She was the best batter of the T20Is. Can she carry it into 50-over cricket?
- Nkomo's fitness: Zimbabwe will want their captain back for the 2nd ODI on 25 October.
- Championship points: Every win counts in the 2025–29 table, so India cannot afford to ease off.
